A Little Colour Goes a Long Way: The Joy of Gemstone Jewellery

There’s something quietly powerful about adding colour to your jewellery. It’s more than just decoration, it’s expression. A tiny spark of blue, a gentle flush of pink, or a bold flash of green can transform a simple silver piece into something deeply personal, full of meaning & energy.

That’s the beauty of gemstones. They do more than catch the light—they tell your story.

In my work, I always come back to the idea that jewellery should feel like you. It should reflect the moments you’ve lived, the memories you treasure & the energy you carry.

Gemstones allow us to tap into that on a whole new level. Whether you’re drawn to calming aquas, passionate reds, or soft, romantic lilacs, that colour speaks. It resonates with something inside you—and that’s when the magic happens.

When I design a piece, I often start with the stone. The colour sets the tone for the whole creation. A deep blue spinel brings a grounded, elegant feel—perfect for a statement ring that demands attention. Soft green peridot feels playful & light, perfect for stacking or layering. And rose quartz? Well, that one always brings a quiet, loving energy into the mix. It’s incredible how much emotion lives in a colour. 

I think that’s what people connect to most: the feeling. It’s not just about matching your outfit—it’s about wearing a colour that lifts your mood, reminds you of someone, or captures a moment in time. A pop of colour adds personality & movement to your style. It turns heads, invites questions & often holds a story waiting to be told.

One of my favourite recent creations was a sterling silver ring set built around an Aqua Spinel. Nestled between two textured stackers, the ring had versatility, meaning it could be worn boldly as a trio or pared back for everyday wear. The stone did the talking—and it never fails to catch the light just right.
