Welcoming the Mirror Ball Collection to F&E

Welcoming the Mirror Ball Collection to F&E

One thing's for certain: I’ve always loved a Disco Ball.

Whether it’s dancing around the kitchen with the kids, a night out with friends, or just catching one hanging in the corner of a room, I’ve always loved those little flashes of light that bounce around as it moves.

There’s something about them that just make me smile.

So where did this little chapter of F&E start?

A while ago, I stumbled across the work of artist Alice Masters & immediately fell in love with her disco ball paintings.

I loved the way she captures all those tiny reflections… the sparkle, the movement & the way every little section catches a completely different ‘moment’.

Then I was very lucky to be gifted one of her paintings. It now hangs at home & I’ve found myself looking at it quite a lot &, as these things tend to do, an idea started to form.

Mirror Ball moments…

I started thinking about all those tiny facets on a mirror ball & how every one reflects something different & that is a little bit like life- made up of so many different places, memories, experiences & little moments. All the things that, when put together, make us who we are.

It felt like a rather lovely connection to the ampersand at the heart of F&E too.

From the sketchbook, to the bench

So the mirror ball idea made its way into my sketchbook, then onto the bench.

There was plenty of experimenting along the way, working out the shape, the facets & how to get that lovely reflective quality into something you could actually wear.

& slowly, the Mirror Ball Collection started to take shape.

There are five new pieces in the collection, all inspired by those little flashes of light & reflection that started the whole idea.

And yes, I now have an actual mirror ball hanging in the workshop too. 🪩

More than just a little sparkle

I think that’s what I really love most about this collection.

It might have started with a love of disco balls, dancing & a bit of sparkle, but it’s really about something much bigger.

Life is not one single shining thing, but a collection of how we choose to spend the time we have.

A little bit of sparkle, with a little bit of meaning behind it.

Find your Mirror Ball moment.

All my love,

Lou xx
