What's your take on Valentine's Day?

People view Valentine's Day through a variety of different lenses. Some people enjoy grand gestures, big dinners, skyscapes with perfect Instagram-able photo opportunities. This is great, it helps the world turn, supporting the economy & British business. But it’s not the only way.
Other people do nothing, preferring to dismiss the whole concept as ‘Americanised’ & commercialised, ignoring or mocking those who mark the day in some way.
I think there’s a middle ground.
Of course, none of us need to be ‘told’ to show our emotions or declare our love on a particular day, we should be doing that all the time, but in our fast paced world of work, staying fit & ferrying to & from sports clubs every evening, it’s easy to forget what, or indeed who is important to you.
Why shouldn’t we use Valentine’s day as a prompt to remind us to show this affection? It doesn’t have to be a grand gesture, we all show our love in different ways.
Throughout life, some of us declare our love daily, for others it’s the shared washing up on a Tuesday night or the surprise cup of tea in the middle of a gardening project. Let Valentine’s Day reflect who you are as a person or as a couple.
A Chunky Heart pendant may be the perfect gift for some people, for others, a simple wax cord bracelet as a small ‘love you’ is the way to a girl’s heart. For others (in fact my husband….!) a handmade card using A4 printer paper & 4 coloured highlighters is the way to go!
Whatever you feel is the right way for you to mark, or not mark the day, go for it. We all love in our own way, loudly & wholeheartedly, calmly & quietly.
One thing I am sure of though. Love with passion & strength & hope. Tell them how much you love them, whether it’s by buying a gift or making them a card, being loved is the best feeling in the world.
What an honour it is to share that with someone.
