Working Hands: Jewellery that is made for real life

Working Hands: Jewellery that is made for real life

I’ve always been a big believer in living in the moment. I still remember when my daughter, Emily was little, putting her in her smartest dresses to just run around the garden, using my ‘best’ china every day & naturally… wearing my favourite jewellery to go work on the farm.

For those who don’t know, I am a Jeweller, yes, but I am also a mother, a potato farmer, co-owner of an accommodation business & a marketing agency, a runner, a wife… the list goes on.

Every week looks a little different, but most days start early with a run, sorting children & guest changeovers. On the farm at the moment there’s lots of planning for the spring & summer (cleaning silos is a joy!). My hands are constantly busy, whether that’s sorting linen, working with tools & tractors, carrying, lifting… or even sneaking a few hours at my bench to make a new piece of jewellery. By the end of the day, they tell the story of where I’ve been & what I’ve done.

That’s what F&E is really all about, for those working hands, jewellery that isn’t just for display, but made to be lived in. A ring that never leaves your finger, earrings that move with you (from farming fields to family dinners), a necklace that remembers the moments that matter most to you. Pieces that sit alongside each layer of you, parent, worker, maker, runner, dreamer & everything in between.

I created Fred & Emily to design pieces that are made to move with you & become a part of your everyday story, into each little moment & milestone that makes up life.

I know the pieces I love most aren’t the ones that are tucked away, they’re the ones I wear everyday, whether that's driving a forklift, walking the dog or at dinner with friends.
